More examples of when to Super Accept partner’s transfer

Today we look at more examples of how you might respond with Super Accept. Our One No-Trump range is always 15-17 points.

Case 1:

Spades xx

Hearts Kxxx

Diamonds AKx

Clubs AKxx

Case 1: You open 1NT. Your partner responds Two Diamonds Transfer to Hearts. With your 17 points you know your partnership may have enough strength for a game. You Super Accept by bidding Three Hearts instead of Two Hearts. If partner has enough strength he will bid Four Hearts or go further towards slam. Otherwise he will PASS and you will play Three Hearts for the part score.

Case 2:

Spades AKQxx

Hearts Qxx

Diamonds Kx

Clubs Jxx

Case 2: You open 1NT with this 16 point hand including one length point. Partner responds Two Hearts Transfer to Spades. You know your partnership may have the strength for game so you Super Accept with a jump bid to Three Spades. If partner has enough strength he then will bid Four Spades or go further towards slam. Otherwise he will PASS and you will play Three Spades for the part score.

Case 3:

Spades Kxx

Hearts QJxx

Diamonds AQx

Clubs Kxx

Case 3: You open 1NT with this 15 point hand. Partner bids Two Diamonds Transfer to Hearts. You are tempted to Super Accept his Hearts but should not. Do not Super Accept with any balanced hand that has no capability of trumping. Also do not Super Accept with a hand containing too many doubtful values such as Queens and Jacks.
