Court heard impaired driver was sent to Sunnybrook with life-threatening injuries following collision

A Muskoka man is lucky to be alive after an impaired driving collision.

Ryan Anderson, 37, recently appeared in a Bracebridge courtroom to plead guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system.

Court heard that on Dec. 28, 2023, the Bracebridge OPP received a call regarding a single-vehicle collision on Matthiasville Road.

When police arrived they found Anderson still inside the vehicle with significant injuries. He was eventually transported to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto with life-threatening injuries.

Samples of Anderson’s blood were taken and came back with readings of 196 mg. He was also found to have THC in his system and was a G1 driver at the time.

Anderson of Bracebridge was sentenced to a $3000 fine, a one-year driving ban, and 12 months of probation.
