This year participants indeed gathered for good—the 2023 theme for the Coldest Night of the Year walk—and managed to raise more than $93,000 for the Table Soup Kitchen Foundation in Huntsville.
“What a beautiful sight on Saturday…..smiling faces and grey Coldest Night toques everywhere!” said event Director Paula Pausen. “Thank you Huntsville for supporting The Table…you have big hearts!”
Participants of all ages gathered on Saturday at the Table Soup Kitchen Foundation located at 9 Hanes Street to embark on a 2-kilometre or 5 km walk. As of Sunday night, the 120 walkers, 27 teams, and 25 volunteers had managed to raise about $93,725. “We are almost at 94K and donations are welcome until March 30th!” added Paulsen.
“The Coldest Night Of the Year walk was a great success! The crowd of enthusiastic walkers appreciated the work of the volunteers directing along the route, and the warmth and refreshments at Slice of Muskoka and Shoppers Drug Mart. The Table parking lot was buzzing with the babble of happy walkers chatting over hot chocolate and tasty soup from The Table’s kitchen after the walk was over. We are so appreciative of the sponsors and donors and thankful for the $94,000 raised as donations continue to come in toward our 100,000 goal,” said Chair of The Table Board Michael Ankenmann.
The Table founder and Executive Director Heather Cassie said the not-for-profit organization was thankful. “The Table soup Kitchen Foundation would like to thank all of the walkers, team captains, donors, sponsors, volunteers and event Director Paula Paunic for making our 11th annual Coldest Night of the Year walk such a wonderful success!” said Cassie. “We trust that the walk was meaningful to those who participated. Funds raised will help The Table continue to provide practical support and assistance to our guests who come for food, shelter, clothing, community, and love. Thank you for walking with us! Please mark your calendar for Coldest Night Of the Year 2024 on Saturday, Feb. 24th”
