Canadian Tire and Jumpstart give The Table a boost with $10,000 donation

The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation has received a $10,000 donation from Canadian Tire Huntsville/Jump Start, just in time for the organization to provide extra and much-needed support to those in need in the community.

The donation has been placed in The Table’s general fund, which pays for its operating costs in order to provide food, clothing, and emergency housing to the hungry, hurting, and homeless, noted Heather Cassie, CEO of The Table.

“This donation is such a beautiful gift, as our local Canadian Tire has chosen to support us year after year,” said Cassie. “Our guests are encouraged by the generosity of Canadian Tire; knowing that donations, such as this one, are being made helps us all feel a little less pressure, and more hopeful that needs will be able to be met.”

Jumpstart is a charity organization founded by Canadian Tire in 2005. It ensures that 100 per cent of funds raised in a community stay in that community.

Jumpstart awarded The Table $4,000 and local Canadian Tire owner Ian McEwan decided to match it, and then added on an extra $2,000 to bring the total to $10,000.

“Ian is a very caring community man who is easy to approach, leads his store well by example, and is a man of his word,” said Cassie. “We are so blessed to have his eye on the work that we do, and we are humbled by the support Ian and the staff at CT provide us with.”

Cassie added that The Table is “so grateful for the support of our friends, who come alongside us with prayer, funds, and time to help us love on our guests. We love our community! If anyone is in need, we are here to serve. We are in this together.”
