Wrap your pooch like a present, adorn your hound with some holly or make your mutt light up like a Christmas tree. Huntsville’s annual Santa Claus parade is less than a month away and organizers are inviting local dogs and their owners to join in the fun.
The Rotary Pooch Parade welcomes canines and their people to walk the parade route together for a $10 donation to the Rotary Club of Huntsville-Lake of Bays to help cover their costs. Dressing up is encouraged. How about matching ugly Christmas sweaters? Or reindeer antlers all around? To register, contact Annie at rotarypoochparade@gmail.com.
As with last year’s parade, there will be some entertainment for the early birds who start lining the streets to get the best vantage point: local dance groups will shimmy and shake their way down Main Street at 6:30 p.m. The parade will officially start at 7:00 p.m. on November 24 at Main and Centre and will finish at Huntsville Place Mall.
This year’s parade theme is Making a Difference at Christmas. “We’re looking for businesses and organizations who participate to share how they make a difference in their community. Just looking for them to showcase their good works, their contributions, what they are proud of,” said parade co-chair Nancy Wilding.
To register a float, contact the Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce at 705-789-4771 or chamber@huntsvillelakeofbays.on.ca.
