Brush fire fullThe Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department was alerted to a brush fire by a Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry ‎plane around 2:30pm on May 23 in the vicinity of Brunel Rd. and Muskoka Rd. 10.

Upon arrival crews were faced with a brush fire that had spread to a workshop and vehicle which were fully involved. The crews were able to stop the spreading fire that had grown to approximately two hectares in size. A crew from the MNRF assisted in controlling the spread of the fire.

A trespasser on the property was burning during restricted hours and it had spread quickly out of control.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department would like to remind residents that there is no daytime burning allowed. This incident is an example of how a fire can quickly get out of control when burning during restricted hours.

Damage to the shop and vehicle is estimated at $30,000.
