    Agree with the first post, Huntsville does a poor job in terms of preserving heritage buildings.

    It’s a disgraceful to see how desecrated this once beautiful building has become. That artisanal brickwork was lovely. Does anyone remember if it was still exposed prior to Pizza Pizza — or the previous tenant — covering it with that atrocious cladding?

    It doesn’t look like much of the original brickwork would remain under the current pastiche, as the roofline has been truncated, the four narrow windows have been replaced with three large ones, and the ground floor has been completely redesigned.

    Huntsville really needs to get its act together and develop a heritage preservation plan that prevents this sort of scenario from occurring in the future. The town already has so few architecturally significant buildings on Main Street, which makes it all the more imperative to preserve and restore what little aesthetic integrity is left.
