A new clinic, Birdsong Audiology, opened today, April 2nd, to help people with their hearing concerns.
When you have hearing loss, you might not hear all the songs of birds anymore. The most common kind of hearing loss affects one’s ability to hear high frequencies – exactly where many birds are singing.
The clinic is owned and operated by audiologist Alysha Beaulne.
She started her career in Toronto a decade ago and has been working in Huntsville for the past three years. She has spent a lot of her time in Huntsville refitting patient’s existing hearing aids: “Sometimes you see someone who has hearing aids and is still really struggling to hear. Then when you dig in and check their hearing aid settings, you find that the hearing aids have not actually been fit to that person’s prescription. When you correct that, it can provide remarkable improvement.”
With hearing loss, it’s easy for someone to think that all they need is a hearing aid and that’s the end of it. However, quality care involves a comprehensive initial assessment by an audiologist, ongoing updates to devices as hearing changes occur, and adoption of other assistive listening devices as needed. Birdsong Audiology is a clinic focused on patient service, transparency, and maximizing long-term success. It is located at 133 Highway 60, Unit 5 in Huntsville.
Appointments can be booked online at birdsongaudiology.ca or by calling 705 788-2499.
