Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka receives $1,000 “Refuse to Settle” Award

When local Pita Pit franchisee Andrew Bridle learned of the opportunity to nominate a local organization for the newly launched Pita Pit Canada community awards, he reached out to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka. A former little brother himself, Bridle understands the value of the agency’s mentorship programs for youth.

The award was created to recognize local organizations for their “Refuse to Settle” mindset, and for making a commitment to changing lives in their community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka was selected as one of the 200 nominees from across the country to be awarded the prize. In addition to national recognition in the Pita Pit Canada Refuse to Settle campaign, the agency was given a $1,000 prize.

Agency executive director Rebecca Paul was thrilled to learn of the award: “To be recognized on a national level as an organization that works hard to make change in our community is an honour.”

When asked why he nominated Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka, Bridle replied, “If you want to make the future better, start with mentoring the future leaders of it.”
