Died peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood, at the age of 77.
Angelo of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Christina for over 53 years. Loving father of Helen (John Barbalias) and Jim (Jennifer). Cherished Papou of George Mattheou Barbalias, Cara Chrisanthi Janis Georgas, Evan Angelo Andrew Georgas and Kristina Zoey Barbalias. Dear brother of the late John (Victoria), Pantalis (Maria), Katarina Gofis, and Maria Lekaki and brother-in-law of Dino (Bessie), Helen (Jim Giannakis), Vasili (Zafiro), Theodore (Panayiota), the late Alex, the late Panayiota (the late Tasos Govatsos) and the late John (Evienia). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families.
Angelo was a kind man, dedicated to his family and his community. He arrived in Canada, settling in Huntsville in 1969. Angelo and his wife owned restaurants in Huntsville and Midland prior to settling in Wasaga Beach to operate the Georgian Circle Family Restaurant for the past 28 years. Angelo and Christina dedicated themselves to their community through fundraising and supporting the needs of others. He will be deeply missed.
Friends and family will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach, on Sunday, April 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 572 Penetanguishene Road, Barrie, ON, L4M 0H2, on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 10 a.m. Interment St. James Cemetery – Crown Hill. A reception will follow at the Wasaga Beach RecPlex, 1724 Mosley Street, Wasaga Beach, at approximately 1 p.m. If desired, donations to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by Angelo’s family.
