Muskoka has lost a passionate and dedicated resident. Huntsville OPP released today that they responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11 at just after 8 p.m. last night (September 26). A Hyundai Sonata heading northbound left the road and struck a rock cut just north of Stephenson Road 1.
The driver, Steve Hern, was taken to hospital and today his employer – Jason Armstrong’s Hyundai of Muskoka – posted to Facebook that Hern had died. “It is with true sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Steve Hern – a Hyundai salesperson since February 2015. We’ve been informed that Steve was involved in a car accident last night. This has come as a shock to all who knew him. Steve was truly part of the Hyundai team, and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”
Hern was well known in the Muskoka community. He was a proponent for local initiatives in Bracebridge and co-founder of the Facebook group “Let’s make Bracebridge great,” and owned social media marketing company In Your Face Consulting. He posted to Facebook last year: “I have to say I LOVE MY JOB!! Everyday I get to speak with and help our local businesses grow and work with passionate local owners. I love Muskoka and so happy to be growing a business in this community.”
His zeal for life was reflected in the tributes friends have been posting online following news of his death.
