Starting today, you can cast your vote by internet or telephone for the candidates of your choice for municipal councils in Muskoka. Voting will close at 8 p.m. on Monday, October 24.
It is important that you vote.
Municipal elections have a history of having low voter turnout, despite their importance at the grassroots level. Municipal elections determine leadership on issues directly related to our quality of life, such as infrastructure, the environment, the local economy, cultural and recreational activities, and overall wellness in both body and spirit.
If you believe in our community, then it is important for you to have your say. Every vote will count, and every vote can make a difference.
There are many good candidates standing for election in Muskoka. They deserve attention and they need to know that we are engaged.
If you are eligible to vote and have not received your ballot in the mail by now, you likely will not so contact your municipality.
This year, you don’t even have to leave home to vote. It is quick, it is easy, and it is important.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE!

Bob Braan says
Voter turnout in Ontario provincially was only 43%.
Only 17% of eligible voters gave Ford his “majority.”
Municipally, even worse, we are looking at around 40% turnout coming up.
Why?
“Voters are “likely to get dishonest, secretive, unethical, unrepresentative and wasteful government no matter who they vote for, and as a result no one should be surprised to see voter turnout at such a low level,”

That list is what we have locally now.
Most of the current crop of councillors actually seem to work for developers not taxpayers.
While giving themselves a 27%!!! raise.
Developers typically design projects that don’t meet any of the zoning and planning rules then ask council for multiple amendments.
Like this one recently.
3 exemptions asked for.
Councillors are actually thinking about granting most of them.
Typical.

If you like the continued, unrestricted destruction of Muskoka including needless clearcutting vote for the incumbents.
Only a minority are against the destruction.
Or become informed and vote for your green candidates.
Let’s start to reverse the destruction of Muskoka to benefit a few developers at the expense of neighbours and taxpayers.
27%!!! District councillor raise.
“How can we justify a substantial increase for ourselves when there are so many in need?” questioned Councillor Don Smith.”
No kidding.
Now is the one and only time to have your say and get rid of those who have chosen to gorge themselves at the public trough while approving the continued unlimited destruction of Muskoka to benefit a few developers.
Find out which of your candidates approved this massive increase.
Say goodbye to all of them.
