There has been much speculation surrounding the mystery donor who has provided the Town of Huntsville with a generous $300,000 donation in order to build a washroom facility at River Mill Park.
Margaret Conner, 87, lives with her daughter in Keswick but still has real estate interests in Huntsville, a place she visits as often as possible and where she once lived with her late husband Richard. Richard was an engineer and worked for Proctor and Gamble for 37 years before he retired.
Philanthropy has always come naturally for the couple. Margaret noted that the first computer Huntsville Library had was donated by her husband.
She said she heard about the need for washrooms at River Mill Park and she approached the municipality and the conversation began.
“Huntsville means a lot to me, I lived here for a long time and the idea of me seeing something that I’m giving money for in a large amount makes me happy. Instead of donating it in my will, I will see it.” She said she wished more people would donate to their community if they are able to and lamented that people seem to be concerned only for themselves these days.
She said she looks forward to seeing the final result. She said she’s glad the washrooms are being made in such a way that makes them harder to vandalize. The washrooms are being welcomed by thankful community members as a great addition to the park.

Margaret your donation is sooo appreciated. My husband worked with your husband at P&G for years and thought he was a great guy. We have called Huntsville home for the last 23 years. We can’t imagine living anywhere else. Its a beautiful place full of kind and generous people. “Giving” gives you a way better feeling than just “having”. Thank you again.
