Margaret Langford was the tailor at Wardell’s for many years. Margaret was my husband Dave’s great aunt. Dave spent many summers, as a young boy, visiting Aunt Marg at her home in Huntsville.

I definitely remember Wardell’s. At Xmas, as kids, we were allowed to go to Wardell’s and pick out a gift from our uncle Walker Emberson. Not much for young girls but my brothers did well. Nice store

When I was 9 years old, I had been at Sick Kids’ Hospital in Toronto for a month. People sent many get well cards with money inside that I saved for something special. Once back at home, my mom took me to Wardell’s because it was an upscale store where we didn’t always shop. There I bought a gorgeous patterned turquoise turtleneck sweater. I treasured that sweater for as long as it fit me, one, because it had been purchased at this fine store, and two, because it always reminded me of the thoughtful friends and neighbours that wished me well.
