The Forester Press Limited building at 72 Main Street East, Huntsville, Ontario, in 1936.

The former Huntsville Forester Press Ltd. building in 1936, when it produced its own newspaper with a printing press in the basement at its former 72 Main Street East location in Huntsville, ON.

In about 2001, the newspaper moved its operations up the road to 11 Main Street West. It was purchased by the Metroland Media Group in 2005.

In 2021, the company closed the main street office of the Huntsville Forester and sold the building thereby eliminating the newspaper’s physical presence on Huntsville’s main street.

Too bad to lose the Forester from main Street.
Unfortunately it is just a shell of it’s former self, nowadays consisting mostly of real estate advertising and a few flyers for the food and furniture stores with a tiny bit of news content tucked away inside. A sign of the times is that the Obituaries generally are larger than the news and that is not good.
Still, better than nothing and it sure would be nice to see that Forester sign back at least close to Main Street again someday.
