Main Street is now closed to traffic from Brunel Road to Centre Street, and King Street is closed from Main to Dara Howell Way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some work will continue in the Stage 1 area in the next few weeks as crews finish sidewalk installation, plant trees, and install lamp posts and the Brunel intersection traffic signals. As sidewalks are installed, there may be temporary restrictions in certain areas, and traffic may be reduced to a single lane at times. River Street will remain closed until bridge work is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Westbound and eastbound traffic will detour south of the construction area onto Brunel Road, Veterans Way, and Centre Street. Traffic travelling north or south will detour between Brunel Road and Centre Street along Veterans Way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pedestrian access will remain open at all times across the bridge. A temporary three-way stop will be in place at John St to allow for pedestrian crossing as crews continue with bridge work. Pedestrian access remains open and accessible throughout downtown in all stages of construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"545\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2021\/06\/HUqMV0BN-Main-St-construction-Stage-2-detours-and-closures.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-99055\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2021\/06\/HUqMV0BN-Main-St-construction-Stage-2-detours-and-closures-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2021\/06\/HUqMV0BN-Main-St-construction-Stage-2-detours-and-closures-630x458.jpg 630w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2021\/06\/HUqMV0BN-Main-St-construction-Stage-2-detours-and-closures.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>All businesses in the construction zone are open and following COVID-19 protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While work on the underside of the swing bridge occurs, boat traffic can continue to pass under the bridge, but height restrictions are temporarily in place. The approximate maximum height for passage under the bridge is nine feet. Some boat tops\/canopies may need to be put down while navigating under the bridge.
