The sale of the Empire lot has been confirmed with a closing date of June, according to Toronto listing agent Alex Hayward of Harvey Kalles Real Estate Ltd.<\/p>\n

<\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n

The lot, located at the corner of Main and Centre, where the Empire Hotel once stood, is a prominent property in downtown Huntsville that was once filled with much-needed residential as well as retail units. It succumbed to a fire just before Thanksgiving in October 2009 and has sat fallow for years.<\/p>\n

Hayward confirmed that it has sold “firm” for $950,000.<\/p>\n

He said he thinks one of the buyers is local and the other from Toronto.<\/p>\n

“The buyers are still working on their plans for the site,” he said, adding that he could not confirm the nature of the development\u2014whether it would be commercial, residential, or a combination of both\u2014and said the buyers\u2019 names “would be revealed in due course.”<\/p>\n
