{"id":92001,"date":"2020-11-27T17:01:47","date_gmt":"2020-11-27T22:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=92001"},"modified":"2020-11-27T19:35:36","modified_gmt":"2020-11-28T00:35:36","slug":"town-of-huntsville-masks-to-support-mental-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/town-of-huntsville-masks-to-support-mental-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Sale of Town of Huntsville masks to support mental health thanks to local teen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Town will begin selling Huntsville masks to the public starting Monday, November 30, with $2 from every sale going to an organization in support of mental health.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Rylind Davis was before Huntsville Council on November 23 asking members to consider supporting mental health for youth through a fundraising initiative involving COVID-19 masks.<\/p>\n<p>He told council that he saw the Huntsville masks that the mayor and deputy mayor were wearing when Premier Doug Ford was in town and wanted one. He discussed it with a friend and the idea to donate proceeds from the sale of such masks to a charitable organization was born.<\/p>\n<p>Davis said he\u2019d like to see funds go towards supporting youth with mental health. &#8220;I know from personal experience that COVID has taken a\u2026 toll on my own mental health. She said Town staff had already gone out and ordered Town of Huntsville masks for sale.<\/p>\n<p>According to Huntsville CAO Denise Corry, the masks are expected to retail at about $10. Two dollars from every sale will be donated to an organization in support of mental health. A specific charity has not yet been selected. Davis will work with municipal staff to identify the charity of choice.<\/p>\n<p>The masks comprise three layers and are adjustable at the nose. According to a press release issued by the Town, starting Monday, November 30, 2020, those wishing to purchase a mask can visit Town Hall at 37 Main St. East during regular hours of operation (Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. \u2013 4:30 p.m.).
