Some have shared great concerns and fears, while others have expressed cautious optimism.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>In these conversations I have had some great reminders that I thought I would share with you:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. I remembered I have a choice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fear is an awesome emotion, helping us decide when to be cautious, when to fight, or even when to defend ourselves. Unfortunately our fear can turn into anxiety\u2014usually a result of unrealistic thoughts we generate from our fears.<\/p>\n<p>Many of us have difficult decisions to make as our economy evolves. With all that is happening in our community and beyond, you have a choice to consciously separate your decisions from anxious thoughts. If you are feeling anxious, consider stopping what you&#8217;re doing and consciously remind yourself of what is realistic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. I was reminded to embrace the situation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Embracing a situation can be extremely difficult, especially when we are challenged to accept something that we don&#8217;t want, or feel is the &#8216;wrong&#8217; outcome. However, the great thing about acceptance is that it brings to light positive outcomes we would have otherwise missed.<\/p>\n<p>So ask yourself, how would an innovative person embrace your situation?  We need to continue to look for opportunity and accept changes (big or small) that bring success for the future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. I was challenged to be proactive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our community has potential to show support and acceptance for each other. As a supporter of small business in Muskoka, I have seen many succeed over the years, directly because of support we provide to one another. I have seen ideas turn into reality. And yes, I have seen many failures as well, including my own.<\/p>\n<p>However one thing is for certain\u2014we will not learn from sitting on our hands, we must be purposeful and act with determination. Make a plan for your future based on facts, and put it into action. Remember, innovation is key to sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>My hope is that our community will not return to be as it was before, but that we take this time to think of new and inspiring ways of living.
