{"id":81341,"date":"2020-02-16T12:39:20","date_gmt":"2020-02-16T17:39:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=81341"},"modified":"2020-02-16T12:39:20","modified_gmt":"2020-02-16T17:39:20","slug":"knights-of-columbus-hockey-tournament-supports-healthcare-causes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/knights-of-columbus-hockey-tournament-supports-healthcare-causes\/","title":{"rendered":"Knights of Columbus hockey tournament supports healthcare causes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The time has come once again for the annual Knights of Columbus Atom\/Novice hockey tournament and silent auction.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The fundraising event will take place at the Canada Summit Centre on March 20-22, 2020, and supports several local organizations including Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospice, Christine\u2019s Place, and Fairvern Nursing Home.<\/p>\n<p>There will be 28 teams competing with three Huntsville teams in the mix. The event is open to the public\u2014everyone is welcome to stop in and cheer on local youth and witness the skill level of these young hockey players. A full schedule and results board will be located in the lower lobby of the Don Lough Arena.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are still needed for timing and score keeping. It is a good event for Huntsville High School students to get their volunteer hours, noted grand knight Bill Weber.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to thank all the local businesses who have donated to the auction table and\/or paid to sponsor ice time and the tournament program,\u201d added Weber.<\/p>\n<p>The K of C tournament is still in need of sponsorships from local businesses. If interested in supporting the cause, businesses can either donate an item for the silent auction that will run on Friday and on Saturday until 5 p.m. Last year there were more than 80 items donated by a wide variety of businesses and artisans along with a selection of gift certificates. &#8220;Any item will be appreciated and it does not have to be hockey related,&#8221; said Weber.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses can also sponsor ice time and a spot in the program booklet. &#8220;This is a great way for local businesses to promote themselves while supporting a great cause,&#8221; said Weber. A one-hour ice time sponsorship is $150 and a business card ad in the program is $50, which will advertise local businesses to both local residents and visitors.<\/p>\n<p>The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization associated with the Catholic Church; the Huntsville group is affiliated with St. Mary\u2019s Church.
