{"id":80592,"date":"2020-02-01T07:30:12","date_gmt":"2020-02-01T12:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=80592"},"modified":"2020-02-01T07:36:16","modified_gmt":"2020-02-01T12:36:16","slug":"athletes-of-the-week-team-watson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/athletes-of-the-week-team-watson\/","title":{"rendered":"Athletes of the week: Team Watson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Team Watson, the junior youth curling team from Huntsville Curling Club, recently took top spot out of four other teams in the C Division at the Joyce Baskey Memorial Bonspiel in Parry Sound.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"76372\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The members of Team Watson\u2014skip Ella Watson, vice Laura Foell, second Ethan Smith and lead Addison Watson\u2014all started to curl two years ago and began to curl together just last year.<\/p>\n<p>At the Joyce Baskey, Team Watson played three games, winning one, tying one, and losing one, which earned them a spot in the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>Team skip, Ella Watson, said that the third game of the bonspiel was a suspenseful one. &#8220;The other team was sitting six points in the last end,&#8221; she said. &#8220;When I delivered my last stone it went right to the button.&#8221; Team Watson \u2018stole\u2019 the end.<\/p>\n<p>Team Watson has been training for this bonspiel twice a week, with each practice beginning with a warm up of curling drills that focus on leg drive, line of delivery and weight control. Then the team gets to play a game with other youth curlers from the club.<\/p>\n<p>Addison Watson&#8217;s favorite part of curling is when the team works together to win, and always getting to compliment everyone that they are playing with. Even the other teams.<\/p>\n<p>The consensus of the team is that they love having fun when they are curling together. Ethan Smith and Laura Foell both agree that they enjoy curling because everyone is respectful and always work together as a team.<\/p>\n<p>The team&#8217;s coach Marg Dollar, said, &#8220;They always have a smile on their faces, even if they win or lose.
