{"id":80012,"date":"2020-01-18T12:00:23","date_gmt":"2020-01-18T17:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=80012"},"modified":"2020-01-20T10:34:25","modified_gmt":"2020-01-20T15:34:25","slug":"athlete-of-the-week-bella-main","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/athlete-of-the-week-bella-main\/","title":{"rendered":"Athlete of the week: Bella Main"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Main photo: Bella Main at the Luv 2 Dance National Competition where she was the Dance Showdown Top Jr. Soloist (Luv 2 Dance)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I love most about dance is that I can express myself fully,\u201d says 12-year-old Bella Main.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"76372\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The local athlete and St. Mary&#8217;s student has been dancing since the age of two and is both a performer and an assistant at JJ Dance Studio, a role she really enjoys.<\/p>\n<p>Main is the daughter of JJ Dance owner, Jennifer Johns-Main, so her love of dance has been part of her upbringing.<\/p>\n<p>Main is a versatile dancer, competing in several different styles of dance: Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Acro, Hip Hop Lyrical and Musical Theatre. She says she loves all of the amazing friends that she has made through the dance studio over the years.<\/p>\n<p>Her most memorable dance moments to date were winning first place in the Junior Top Soloist Dance Showdown at the Luv 2 Dance Nationals competition last year, as well as receiving the highest score for her dance solo overall in the entire Junior category at the Dance Canada competition.<\/p>\n<p>All of the JJ Dance Studio coaches agree that Main works very hard on and off the stage and that she is a huge part of the competitive team and studio. Everyone from the studio is proud of her.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_80044\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-80044\" class=\"wp-image-80044 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2020\/01\/1579378807139blob-e1579534419888.png\" alt=\"Bella Main at the JJ Dance Performing Arts Studio (supplied)\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2020\/01\/1579378807139blob-e1579534419888-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2020\/01\/1579378807139blob-e1579534419888.png 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-80044\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bella Main at the JJ Dance Performing Arts Studio (supplied)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Main shared that she does work hard but her hardest thing about dance and performing is when she has to work through an injury or two with quick changes during a performance which can be quite stressful.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to performing, Main takes advantage of dance intensive camps that are offered throughout the year and will travel to conventions across Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>Main has a goal of one day becoming a professional dancer as well as running her own dance studio or taking over JJ Dance after she retires.<\/p>\n<p>She also wants to attend post-secondary school to become a dental hygienist.<\/p>\n<p>Main is preparing for the upcoming 2020 dance season with several fun and exciting events taking place near and far.
