With most of us just settling in for the upcoming winter, registrations for the 2020 triathlons are already underway.<\/p>\n

Amazingly, the 2020 Muskoka Ironman 70.3 event filled up in record time with 1,800 athletes registering.<\/p>\n

Registration for the TriMuskoka Indoor Triathlon, scheduled for February 9, 2020 at the Canada Summit Centre, will go live at midnight on December 10. The TriMuskoka Indoor Triathlon is capped at 108 participants and it has sold out the past two years.<\/p>\n

The TriMuskokan, to be held at Huntsville\u2019s Canada Summit Centre on Sunday June 28, 2020, opened its registration on December 1 and was already 42 per cent filled by December 7. With the TriMuskokan being limited to 375 individual participants and 20 relay teams, those hoping to participate had better register soon if they do not want to be disappointed. This event has sold out for the past three years.<\/p>\n

The Indoor Tri is the perfect event for the first-time triathlete. The swimming is in the pool \u2013 a very controlled swimming environment \u2013 which reduces the anxiety many newbies experience at their first outdoor triathlon. The bike is on stationary bikes in the Summit Centre lobby \u2013 the ultimate in safe biking. And the run is on the indoor track in the Don Lough Arena \u2013 the perfect safe, temperature-controlled running environment.<\/p>\n

Once you have a successful first tri under your belt, it\u2019s time to move up to the next level \u2013 your first outdoor triathlon, The TriMuskokan.<\/p>\n

For those newbies preparing to do their first outdoor triathlon there is the Try-a-Tri (400m swim, 10km bike and 2.5km run). For the more experienced there is the Short Course Triathlon (750m swim, 30km bike, 7.5 km run) and the Short Course Duathlon (2.5km run, 30km bike, 7.5km run). And, if running is not your thing, there\u2019s the Swim\/Bike event (750m swim, 30km bike). Finally, there is the relay event (750m swim, 30km bike, 7.5 km run) in which each of three individuals take on one of the swim, bike or run.<\/p>\n

There is an incentive to register early. For example, for the TriMuskokan, the cost escalates from $74 for the Short Course Triathlon before February 1 to $90 from May 1 to June 21. And, if you register before May 1 you will receive a commemorative t-shirt.<\/p>\n
