The devastating story of a local man losing everything he owned in a house fire is being felt by the entire community.<\/p>\n

Since Monday afternoon, a Go Fund Me donation page for Tobin Spring, whose Brunel Road home burned early Sunday morning, has seen 371 people raise over $32,000 in just two days. The well-known musician was not home when the fire started and adding to the devastation is that his beloved dog Molly did not make it out.<\/p>\n

The fire is estimated to have caused over $325,000 in damage, and the fire department is reporting it was caused by an electrical circuit fault.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old singer\/songwriter who teaches guitar and vocals, has been a prominent figure in the local music scene for many years. Spring has performed at every possible venue in Muskoka and also wrote the theme song for the 2010 Ontario Winter Games. He is known for his regular gigs at the Mill on Main, his involvement in the highly-acclaimed Northern Blues Review shows as well as the Etwell Concert Series. He has also been the front man for Laganza, a band that he\u2019s been actively apart of since his high school days.<\/p>\n

Spring is a well-known local musician who has spent a lot of time giving back to the community.<\/p><\/div>\n

Hundreds of well wishes and prayers \u2013 from near and far \u2013 and not just from family and friends but from his fans, have been a constant on Spring\u2019s Facebook page since news of the tragedy broke.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

His long-time friend Derek Cochrane and his wife, Julie, had heard about setting up a Go Fund Me account. With a brief but heartfelt description of what they were doing and why, the support started to trickle in. And then it began to pour. What has transpired in the last two days is truly a miracle. With a financial goal of raising $20,000, that amount has been surpassed by over $12,000.<\/p>\n

His friends say the outpour of support Spring has received is a testament to the kind of guy he is. Over the years, he has performed at countless functions for charities and this is simply a matter of the community giving back to him for all he’s done.<\/p>\n

\u201cTobin has done a lot of for the community and everyone is returning that,\u201d says Derek. \u201cIt\u2019s karma.\u201d<\/p>\n

Julie says she could not believe the extreme kindness and generousity from those supporting Spring during this difficult time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m shocked and thankful and I can honestly say I\u2019m proud to live here,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m happy to say that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spring acknowledged the ongoing support yesterday by responding with a message on Facebook:<\/p>\n
