The Town of Huntsville would like to remind residents of the resources available to them.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The public is welcome to access the air-conditioned environment at the following town facilities during regular business hours:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/facilities.huntsville.ca\/Home\/Detail?Id=3ac538f0-9647-4c93-932b-2b34187083ae\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canada Summit Centre and Active Living Centre<\/a><\/span> located at 20 Park Drive<br \/>\n\u2022 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huntsvillelibrary.ca\/en\/about-us\/hours-and-locations.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Huntsville Public Library<\/a><\/span> located at 7 Minerva Street East<\/p>\n<p>With high heat and humidity continuing over the next few days, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.simcoemuskokahealth.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit<\/a><\/span> reminds people to put some precautions in place to protect their health.<\/p>\n<p>Infants and young children, people 65 years and older, people with chronic lung conditions and those on certain medications are the most vulnerable to heat-related illness. Try these measures to keep you and your family healthy during a heat wave:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be sure to drink plenty of fluids (non-caffeinated). Don\u2019t wait until you feel thirsty \u2013 that\u2019s a sign that your body is already becoming dehydrated<\/li>\n<li>Stay cool indoors and if possible, seek out an air-conditioned place<\/li>\n<li>If you must be outside, stay in the shade and make sure you wear and reapply sunscreen, a broad-brimmed hat, sunglasses and wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing<\/li>\n<li>Electric fans provide comfort by increasing evaporation; however, when the conditions are extreme, fans will not prevent heat-related illness<\/li>\n<li>Keep physical activity to a minimum<\/li>\n<li>Draw blinds\/curtains to prevent radiant heat from entering homes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The initial signs of heat exhaustion include feeling hot, uncomfortable or lethargic and experiencing a loss of appetite. If symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, throbbing headache, chest pain, dry skin (no sweating), problem breathing and\/or confusion develop, you should seek medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>More information about coping with extreme heat can be found on the health unit\u2019s website at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.simcoemuskokahealth.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.simcoemuskokahealth.org<\/a><\/span> or by calling call Health Connection, at 721-7520 (1-877-721-7520) Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit recommends during high heat events that you stay in a cool location as much as possible, drink plenty of fluids and if you must be outside to limit your activities.<\/p>\n<p>Residents can visit <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/canada_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environment Canada<\/a> or follow local media channels for weather updates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Don\u2019t miss out on Doppler!
