The District currently gives a 30 per cent tax rate reduction to 397 properties totaling $186,000, which is funded by all other taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Considering the options<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The District of Muskoka is reviewing three options for the future of the program:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>keep the current tax rate reduction program<\/li>\n<li>eliminate the tax reductions in 2020<\/li>\n<li>phase out the tax rate reductions over two years, starting in 2020<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Review the <a title=\"Open new window to view https:\/\/muskoka.civicweb.net\/document\/33982\" href=\"https:\/\/muskoka.civicweb.net\/document\/33982\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Elimination of Vacant and Excess Land Reductions Report<\/span> <\/a> that was presented to Committee to understand how the options outlined in the survey will affect all property owners in the District of Muskoka.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How the District of Muskoka will use the survey results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The District of Muskoka will summarize the results of the survey in a report to be presented to Council in July.  The report will also contain staff recommendations for the future of the program for Council to consider.<\/p>\n<p>The survey is open until July 5.
