{"id":65521,"date":"2019-04-25T11:14:34","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T15:14:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=65521"},"modified":"2019-04-25T11:16:56","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T15:16:56","slug":"mahc-names-new-chief-of-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/mahc-names-new-chief-of-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"MAHC names new chief of staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Phil Matthews, Board Chair, is pleased to announce on behalf of the Board of Directors the appointment of Dr. Khaled Abdel-Razek as Chief of Staff for Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC), effective June 3, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Abdel-Razek is a respected clinician and surgeon, physician leader and health care administrator, and a mentor and educator,\u201d says Matthews. \u201cWe are delighted to welcome him to the Senior Leadership Team at MAHC and look forward to his energy, optimism, effective communication and passion for teamwork.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Dr. Abdel-Razek has been practicing as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Orillia Soldiers\u2019 Memorial Hospital (OSMH) since December 2004. He is a medical graduate of the Ain Shams University in Cairo, where he also completed his internship, residency and fellowship in obstetrics\/gynaecology. Dr. Abdel-Razek is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and holds a diploma in health care administration. Dr. Abdel-Razek will be part of Harvard Medical School\u2019s class of 2020 with his recent acceptance into Harvard\u2019s Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership program.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career, Dr. Abdel-Razek has held leadership roles at OSMH including Chief of Obstetrics, and more recently Surgical Program Medical Director, which he will continue amidst his Chief of Staff responsibilities to MAHC. Dr. Abdel-Razek also worked as an international specialist physician at the University of Toronto and is a recognized clinician, earning the Physician Leadership Award in 2014 and the Clinical Excellence Award in July 2009 from OSMH.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Abdel-Razek has been a colleague to local physicians for over a decade and was credentialed at MAHC in 2013 to provide gynaecological surgery locally in Muskoka.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with great happiness and sincere humility that I will assume my duties as Chief of Staff at MAHC,\u201d says Dr. Abdel-Razek. \u201cMy admiration of MAHC is no secret to all those who know me and work with me. The experience I have had as a care provider at MAHC and the experience of my Muskoka and area patients has always been extremely positive. So it is only natural that I am excited and proud to join MAHC\u2019s leadership and work more closely with everyone at MAHC. I look forward to supporting clinically responsive, fiscally efficient care that is adaptive to the changing dynamics of our health care system and our population.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chief of Staff is a member of the Administration team and is accountable to the Board of Directors.
