Organizers of the annual Muskoka Maple Festival are reminding residents and visitors alike that the popular kick-off to spring and summer events is still a go for this Saturday, April 27.<\/p>\n

They’ve received many queries from people wondering if the festival has been affected by the flooding in downtown Huntsville. While some of the parking areas that people may have used in the past are closed due to high water levels, Main Street, where the festival occurs, is on high ground and organizers are excited to welcome everyone for a full day of activities. (For parking, stick to the north of Main Street in one of the municipal parking lots\u2014see a list here<\/a> <\/span>but you may want to avoid the River Mill Parking lot\u2014or at the Canada Summit Centre, which is a short walk away.)<\/p>\n

<\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n

The Rotary Club of Huntsville returns to host the always-popular pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., sponsored by Sugarbush Hill Maple Farm. For just $7, which supports Rotary programs, you get three pancakes, three s<\/span>ausages and a drink. It’s available from <\/span><\/p>\n

There’s also the Muskoka Maple Market where you can sample dishes from many local Muskoka businesses, like charbroiled pork back ribs with maple molasses BBQ sauce, maple bacon grilled cheese, maple chili, maple butter tarts, maple brownies, maple cookies, and maple sundaes.<\/p>\n

The Maple Festival\u2019s beer garden features a unique maple-inspired creation. Muskoka\u2019s five craft breweries, Canvas Brewing Co., Clear Lake Brewing Co., Lake of Bays Brewing Co., Muskoka Brewery and Sawdust City Brewing Co., have collaborated to create a beer to celebrate the season. The result is Pancake Breakfast Specialty Maple Ale, made with fresh maple sap and syrup from Sweetwater Maple Syrup Supplies & Sugarbush.<\/p>\n

And for the first time, all of Main Street is licensed so you can take your maple brew with you as you browse the rest of the event.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s still a family-friendly event, much like the beer festival,” says Kelly Haywood, executive director of the Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce. “We will ID attendees at each entrance, and people will be able to wander around to enjoy the sweet treats and retail items with a great local beer!”<\/p>\n

There will be live music on the NyDock Stage, and street performances by Lukas Stark, The Mystery Entertainer; Mighty Mike, The Funniest Strongman; and Steve Goodtime, the Rock N\u2019 Roll Stuntman.<\/p>\n

The Kiwanis Club of Huntsville is once again returning to host the Kiwanis Sap Run, the perfect way for kids to burn off some energy. For just $20, kids aged 3-13 years old can enjoy the fun run in both 500m and 1km distances. Registration also includes a free pancake breakfast. Online registration is now open here<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Admission for the festival is $5; free for kids 12 & under.<\/p>\n
