{"id":64838,"date":"2019-04-12T07:37:52","date_gmt":"2019-04-12T11:37:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=64838"},"modified":"2019-04-12T07:37:52","modified_gmt":"2019-04-12T11:37:52","slug":"celebrate-earth-week-with-town-of-huntsville-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/celebrate-earth-week-with-town-of-huntsville-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrate Earth Week with Town of Huntsville activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>A message from the Town of Huntsville<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Town of Huntsville together with the Huntsville Public Library, is proud to unveil an entire week of activities for our annual Earth Week celebration, April 22-27.<\/p>\n<p>Earth Day has taken place on April 22<sup>nd<\/sup> every year since 1970 and has become one of the most celebrated environmental events worldwide.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Our Annual week-long celebration is organized by the Library along with our community partners. Many of the programs are free and are suitable for the whole family. Celebrations take place at the library, and at locations across Huntsville. This year we have more community events than ever and are encouraging people to re-think what it means to be green. Workshops are structured around waste reduction, particularly encouraging less single use plastics in your bathroom and kitchen including growing your own food and using all the scraps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Celebrations include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Storytime and up-cycled crafts at the Huntsville Public Library<\/li>\n<li>Launch of the Urban Streetscape Tree Planting Program<\/li>\n<li>Annual Compost Giveaway at Conroy Park<\/li>\n<li>Zero Waste Kitchen and Zero Waste Bathroom workshops<\/li>\n<li>DIY Beeswax Wraps<\/li>\n<li>Film Screening of Hadwin\u2019s Judgement<\/li>\n<li>Muskoka Stewardship Conference<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Saturday April 27 at the Huntsville Public Library<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join the Huntsville Public Library on Saturday April 27 between noon and 3 pm for our third annual Seedy Saturday in partnership with Eat Local Muskoka. Seedy Saturday is an event that happens all across the globe. Connect with us at the community seed swap, check out local seed and produce vendors, ask questions of the Horticulture Society and get all your gardening gear for the spring. We will have free samples, seeds to giveaway and seedlings for sale.
