{"id":64643,"date":"2019-04-09T15:16:46","date_gmt":"2019-04-09T19:16:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=64643"},"modified":"2019-04-09T16:04:33","modified_gmt":"2019-04-09T20:04:33","slug":"lake-of-bays-skating-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/lake-of-bays-skating-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Lake of Bays Skating Club carnival celebrates season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><br \/>\nMain photo: (front from left) Finley Simms, Maddie Whyte, Gino D\u2019Agata, Julia D\u2019Agata; (middle row) Addie McColl, Ryder Simms, Olivia Mackinnon, Charlie D\u2019Agata, Oliver D\u2019Agata; (back from left) Kennedy Irving, Kiela McPherson, Hanna Harris, Emma Mackinnon, Raija Czirak, Isabella D\u2019Agata, Matthew Mackinnon, Anthony D\u2019Agata, and Shelby D\u2019Agata (supplied)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Sunday March 30, the Lake of Bays Skating Club hosted their season finale to showcase just how much the skaters&#8217; abilities have improved over the season.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The carnival theme was Music and Movies and skaters dressed as their favourite Disney and popular movie characters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a really fun way to end the season and to show family and friends what the children have accomplished in their season,\u201d said Stacey Mackinnon, the president of the club.<\/p>\n<p>The Lake of Bays Skating Club has offered skating lessons in Baysville for the past 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are a small but energetic club,&#8221; said Mackinnon, adding that they have a fantastic coach in Christine Whyte, who joined the club two years ago. (supplied)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The club offers skating lessons for beginner skaters (Canskate: pre-can to Stage 6) through to the more advanced skaters (Star 1 &#8211; Gold program). For the 2018-19 season, the club had 20 registered skaters ranging in age from three to 17 years old.<\/p>\n<p>This season, the club&#8217;s Star Skaters competed in two competitions. Four skaters competed in Port Credit as well as in Bracebridge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of our skaters did very well in their respective levels and programming,\u201d said Mackinnon. They were able to meet other skaters from the surrounding areas and had fun showcasing their own individual talents.<\/p>\n<p>The Lake of Bays Skating Club welcomes new skaters all throughout the season.
