Zone Director, Shelly Nobile, had the idea of a senior\u2019s league a few years ago but her vision is just coming to fruition after discussing the idea with OLA president Marion Ladaceur, executive director Stan Cockerton, and program director Ron MacSpadyen. They all agreed that there was a need and Nobile began to seek interest throughout the province.<\/p>\n<p>Huntsville is currently working on putting together a team and being a tournament host.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Currently there are 84 junior age teams in Ontario and only 12 senior age teams. This new Senior C league is to provide players who would either not make a Major Series Lacrosse team or a Senior B team, or could not make the time commitment to travel to practices and games but wish to still play the same full-contact style of lacrosse that many have played since they were five years old,&#8221; said Nobile.<\/p>\n<p>The new Senior Lacrosse League will only have weekend tournaments which decreases the cost for a team significantly. The tournament fees will either be divided amongst the players or covered by fundraising. Participating teams that would like to host a tournament are able to apply for a tournament date which will<br \/>\nprovide the team the ability to raise additional funds.<\/p>\n<p>Centres that wish to register a senior team are expected to have players that are well experienced and have competed on a Junior or Senior team previously. Teams need to be registered by submitting their application to Nobile, the Commissioner of the League. Once they are league approved, the application approval will be submitted to the OLA for final approval.<\/p>\n<p>The Senior Lacrosse League will begin in the spring of 2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Don\u2019t miss out on Doppler!
