{"id":59431,"date":"2018-12-10T17:36:27","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T22:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=59431"},"modified":"2018-12-10T17:36:27","modified_gmt":"2018-12-10T22:36:27","slug":"merger-with-bracebridge-is-off-the-table-announces-port-sydney-utterson-and-area-chamber-president-at-agm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/merger-with-bracebridge-is-off-the-table-announces-port-sydney-utterson-and-area-chamber-president-at-agm\/","title":{"rendered":"Merger with Bracebridge is off the table, announces Port Sydney\/Utterson and Area Chamber President at AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Port Sydney\/Utterson and Area Chamber of Commerce President Kim Dubeau announced at the chamber\u2019s Annual General Meeting, held at Pine Lodge in Port Sydney on December 5, 2018, that the chamber\u2019s proposed merger with Bracebridge is off the table.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>In a statement sent out via email to all chamber members who were not able to make it to the AGM, Dubeau reiterated the statement she read out at the meeting:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The Boards of Directors for both the Port Sydney\/Utterson and Area Chamber of Commerce and Bracebridge Chamber of Commerce has come to the conclusion that it is no longer in the best interest of their business members, community members and staff to move forward at the present time with the planned merger.  After much discussion and reflection both independently and together as Boards, we both feel that our members and community will be better served by working independently of each other at this time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The email adds that<em> \u201cboth Chambers look forward to continued collaboration with each other for events and Business After Hours which will be of continued benefit to all of our members.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The new 2019 Board of Directors was also announced as follows: returning directors Derek Watson-Brown (Vice President), Brenda Murdoch (Secretary), Bonnie Boyd (Treasurer), Catharine Miller, Jim Szeman and Dean Smales; and new directors joining the board Ali Gamble and Chrissy Clelland. According to the email, Peter Matthews has retired from the Board and Dubeau thanked him for his many years of service.<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber&#8217;s annual award winners were also announced. The Business of the Year Award went to Melissa Bradbury of Peryle Keye Real Estate and the New Business of the Year Award went to Dan and Ali of the Gamble Farm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Don\u2019t miss out on Doppler!
