The Huntsville Soccer Club (HSC) and the Bracebridge Soccer Club (BSC) have joined forces to launch an indoor co-ed soccer league over the winter. The clubs wanted to create opportunities for youth in both communities.<\/p>\n

<\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n

The program will be geared toward soccer players who have experience in playing LTPD and\/or Development soccer. The young athletes will be trained to develop and perfect learned skills with fine detail. And it gives them more opportunity to play.<\/p>\n

“First and foremost, we formed this league so that kids can keep playing soccer during the winter,” says HSC vice-president, Ted Maduri. “But we wanted something more than just skills
\ndevelopment sessions; this league allows the kids to get into their uniforms and get their competitive juices flowing. It was Scott Wood’s
\nidea. And we thought it was a good one!”<\/p>\n

Maduri added that the clubs thought the kids would enjoy being on teams made up of players from both communities and “having it be co-ed means the boys will get a chance to see how girls play soccer\u2014and vice versa\u2014and pick up some pointers.”<\/p>\n

The new league isn’t just for rep or development players, noted Maduri. Kids who have played house league or LTPD are welcome, too, as are newbies to the sport if they’re comfortable with the format. “(We) didn’t think that this venue would be where a newbie would want to try out
\nsoccer. But, if we’re wrong, there’s nothing preventing any one from joining.”<\/p>\n

The Bracebridge club is happy to be part of the new league, too.<\/p>\n

“We’re excited about the launch of this new indoor program for the children. Our club’s goal has been to provide soccer development opportunities close to home, and it’s great to be working with Huntsville SC to be able to offer this to the growing and enthusiastic registrant base in Muskoka,” said John Miller, president, Bracebridge Soccer Club.<\/p>\n

Registration is now open for the indoor league which will launch January 13, 2019, running on Sundays between 2:00-6:00 with a one-hour game played within this time frame. Games will be played at locations in both Huntsville (Riverside Public School) and Bracebridge (Bracebridge Muskoka Lakes Secondary School). League members will play between both locations throughout the program\u2019s duration.<\/p>\n

Teams will be a mix of players from both communities to ensure there is a balanced roster.<\/p>\n

Each player will take part in a total of approximately ten games with one game per week. Each game will include game leaders, convenors and referees that will provide supervision, training and guidance as well as encouragement while providing a safe and fun environment.<\/p>\n

League age groups (age as of January 1, 2019) are: U8, U10, U12, and U13. The cost per player is $100 (no tax) and each player will receive a full uniform kit.<\/p>\n
