Volunteer Muskoka\u2019s vision is to strive to create a community where everyone is inspired and equipped to make a difference.<\/p>\n

And with a newly revamped website that aims to connect eager volunteers with worthy organizations, it\u2019s in a good position to help anyone who wants to make a difference do just that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand that volunteers are busy, and we want to make finding opportunities to give back to their community as easy as possible,\u201d says Terri Tebby, Volunteer Development Program Coordinator for Volunteer Muskoka. \u201cAt the same time, we want to simplify the process for organizations to recruit volunteers and also provide them with training opportunities on everything from volunteer recruitment and management to fundraising and strategic planning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volunteer Muskoka\u2019s new user-friendly website allows volunteers to register with their interests and receive automated updates whenever a volunteer opportunity is added that matches those interests. They can also search current opportunities by category, age group (youth or seniors, for example), and location. When they find an opportunity that\u2019s of interest, they can reach out to the organization for more information.<\/p>\n

Organizations, in addition to inputting the types of volunteer roles they have available, can also include more general information about what they do so interested supporters can get in touch.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt saves organizations time by posting their volunteer needs on our website and instantly having a notification sent to volunteers who might be interested in those opportunities,\u201d says Tebby.<\/p>\n

A calendar on the site will provide volunteers with an easily accessible overview of upcoming events in need of volunteers, and organizations can see what types of workshops are available.<\/p>\n

Workshops will begin again in January on topics like SmartServe, customer service training, speaking with confidence, event planning, team building and conflict resolution. Watch the Volunteer Muskoka website<\/a><\/span> for details or sign up on the website for e-newsletters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a budget dedicated to providing training opportunities to organizations or groups of volunteers,\u201d says Tebby. \u201cWe will help however we can. So many organizations rely on volunteers to provide services or run events. Our ultimate goal is to create a strong and vibrant volunteer base in Muskoka.\u201d<\/p>\n
