It’s a complex issue, but the most basic answer is: with food.<\/p>\n So Riverside Public School\u2019s Me To We team joined Bickley Ford to give back to their community with WE Scare Hunger, a food drive to collect non-perishable food items for Huntsville\u2019s food banks at The Salvation Army and The Table Soup Kitchen.<\/p>\n The team of grade 7\/8 students started the initiative at the beginning of October, researching the need for food from local food banks. They decided to divide the non-perishable food items collected between both of Huntsville\u2019s food banks, where they would then be distributed to families in need.<\/p>\n Next, the team made posters to bring awareness to their peers of the root causes of hunger and to motivate them to help scare hunger.<\/p>\n The Me To We team then issued a challenge to the Riverside school community: collect enough food items to fill a Ford F150 truck. The classroom that collected the most food items would win a pizza party from Bickley Ford. Cans and boxed food items began rolling in. So much that it took the team two days to collect and sort all of the 1,136 donated food items\u2014enough to fill two F150s!<\/p>\n On November 5, Bickley Ford helped the team deliver the food items to the food banks and witnessed the spreading of joy and kindness with the hard-working students from Riverside. The students’ faces lit up knowing that they were giving back to their community and that their efforts were helping local families.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
