Bill 31, which includes amendments to the Highway Traffic Act, came into effect September 1, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Police would like the public to be aware that there have been some significant changes in the law. Some of the changes include:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Drivers are to remain stopped at a pedestrian crossover or school crossing until all pedestrians have completely cleared the entire roadway.<\/li>\n<li>Drivers are to slow down or move over into another lane when approaching a stopped emergency vehicle with its emergency lights flashing, this has been amended to include a stopped tow truck with its amber lights flashing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cIt does not matter if you have been driving for a number of years or are just starting your driving career. The laws continue to evolve and change. The changes are designed to enhance safety for all users of the road. It is important to remind drivers to stay alert and stay current.
