Seth Cooper, 16, is obsessed with sports. In his second year of high school during the 2017\/18 school year, the the Huntsville High School (HHS) student was tremendously active in six different sports: he was a member of the Hoyas volleyball and basketball teams, an avid runner and Nordic skier for the cross-country teams, and could slam his racket while on the tennis and badminton courts. He also participated in soccer and track and field events.<\/p>\n
As active as Seth is, he spends even more time pursuing his passion for basketball which he has been playing competitively for eight years. In addition to his role on the Hoyas team, he also plays for the Huntsville Hurricanes\u2014he’s a point guard for both teams. Seth was also the captain of his Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) Rep Basketball team and was selected to take part in the OBA player training program in the winter. Playing university basketball is one of Seth\u2019s future goals.<\/p>\n
While playing for the Hoyas, he and his team won the Muskoka Parry Sound (MPS) championships and made their way to the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association (GBSSA) Championships where they won Gold<\/a><\/span>. This is one of Seth\u2019s most memorable moments so far in his basketball journey.<\/p>\n Seth\u2019s high school basketball coach, Terry Barber, says, “Seth is very coachable, and very dedicated as he is involved in many extra-curricular activities as an individual and as a team player. He works really hard during practice, as well as before and after practices.”<\/p>\n In addition to his basketball success last year, Seth and his teammates from the Hoyas junior boys cross-country team were provincial Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association (OFSAA) champs<\/a><\/span>, and he and his partner won the Tennis Mixed Doubles at GBSSA.<\/p>\n Not only does Seth play sports, he was also president of the Huntsville High School Athletic Council.<\/p>\n This summer, Seth is working at Deerhurst Resort where he has found a new sport obsession: golf!<\/p>\n\n\t\t
