{"id":51457,"date":"2018-07-11T05:31:33","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T09:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=51457"},"modified":"2018-07-10T16:36:49","modified_gmt":"2018-07-10T20:36:49","slug":"ywca-muskoka-announces-new-award-for-women-of-distinction-gala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/ywca-muskoka-announces-new-award-for-women-of-distinction-gala\/","title":{"rendered":"YWCA Muskoka announces new award for Women of Distinction gala"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nominations are officially open for YWCA Muskoka\u2019s 17th annual Women of Distinction Awards\u2014a signature event recognized nationally among Canada\u2019s most prestigious awards for women\u2014and a brand new category is open for nominations this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Transformational Award will recognize women who have overcome significant challenges in their lives; someone who has faced adversity and demonstrated resilience in improving the quality of her life and is an inspiration to others.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe Transformational Award is for the women in our community who inspire those around them and demonstrate that they\u2019re shining bright despite or perhaps because of what they\u2019ve had to overcome,\u201d said Hannah Lin, Executive Director of YWCA Muskoka.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the inaugural Transformational Award was presented to Brenda Wood in partnership with Community Living Huntsville; this year and moving forward, the Transformational Award will be a category open to all for nominations.<\/p>\n<p>The Transformational Award joins seven other categories including: Young Women of Distinction; Mentorship; Arts, Culture and Creative Energy; Health, Sports and Wellness; Community Development and Social Activism; Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship; and Lifetime Achievement.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to nominate a Woman of Distinction is at 4:00 p.m. on September 14, 2018. Nominations can be done online at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ywcamuskoka.com\/women-of-distinction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.ywcamuskoka.com\/women-of-distinction<\/a><\/span> or at the YWCA Offices at 440 Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge.
