{"id":51253,"date":"2018-07-06T10:09:32","date_gmt":"2018-07-06T14:09:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=51253"},"modified":"2018-07-06T10:10:16","modified_gmt":"2018-07-06T14:10:16","slug":"hospital-foundation-golf-tournament-raises-almost-250000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/hospital-foundation-golf-tournament-raises-almost-250000\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospital Foundation golf tournament raises almost $250,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\">The Huntsville Hospital Foundation (HHF) charity golf tournament at Bigwin Island golf course broke all records, raising almost $250,000 at the one-day event.<\/p>\n<p>From the moment guests stepped on the island to the last song by Canadian songwriting icon, Andy Kim, it was a day made complete with amazing golf, hockey celebrities, terrific food and beverage, an enticing silent auction and flat-out fun.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis year was our best ever!&#8221; said Board Chair Paul Thomas. &#8220;This community, whether local or seasonal, showed just how important the hospital is to them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The title sponsor, SML Contracting, announced that they will be extending their sponsorship of the tournament for six more years (for a total commitment of 10 years).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Additionally, Bruce Fitter, President of SML Contracting put forward $5,000 as a challenge to other participants to match or contribute to the purchase of new stretchers desperately needed at the hospital. Participants stepped up in a big way, donating 18 stretchers in just over 10 minutes of enthusiastic bidding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cIt\u2019s so overwhelming, although I don\u2019t know why I\u2019m surprised because this community has continued to show their passion for our hospital,&#8221; commented HHF Executive Director Katherine Craine. \u201cI would like to thank SML, along with all of our sponsors. We couldn\u2019t do what we do without their incredible support.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, June 28 marked the fifth<span class=\"s2\"> <\/span>annual Huntsville Hospital Foundation Charity Golf Tournament. The event continues to get bigger and better each year.
