It featured demonstrations and workshops from artisans from around the Muskoka area who specialize in a variety of different art forms.<\/p>\n<p>Amazing driftwood sculptures, unique furniture art, wood burls made into one-of-a-kind bowls, beautiful wool scarves spun by hand and finely-detailed character carvings into wood were just some of the handmade goods being sold at the market.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4947\" style=\"width: 1878px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2015\/10\/forest_marketplace11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4947\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4947\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2015\/10\/forest_marketplace11.jpg\" alt=\"There was so much to see - and buy - at the market.\" width=\"1868\" height=\"936\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2015\/10\/forest_marketplace11-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2015\/10\/forest_marketplace11-1024x513.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2015\/10\/forest_marketplace11.jpg 1868w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1868px) 100vw, 1868px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4947\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">There was so much to see &#8211; and buy &#8211; at the market.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Gifts of the Forest Marketplace was held in conjunction with Muskoka Conservancy\u2019s annual Wildlife Forest Festival, which took place on October 2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of the vendors are hobbyists, so they are doing it just because they love to do it,\u201d explained Jenn LeMesurier, Muskoka Conservancy\u2019s property management and volunteer coordinator. \u201cWe wanted to do this as an extra. And if it\u2019s popular enough we would like to do this every year, too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>Pat Orton demonstrated his chainsaw carving, Pam Wedd repaired a canoe, Lynda Coad put a beautiful bouquet together with roadside flowers and plants and Laura Gilmour offered free samples of her organic herbal concoctions. Almost every vendor there was demonstrating their skill. There was also a special workshop held to make your own medicine pouch.<\/p>\n\n<p>Muskoka Conservancy works to protect 36 properties totalling almost 2,400 acres of sensitive wetlands, forests, rock barrens and shorelines.
