{"id":4892,"date":"2015-10-04T08:24:02","date_gmt":"2015-10-04T12:24:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=4892"},"modified":"2015-10-04T08:24:02","modified_gmt":"2015-10-04T12:24:02","slug":"small-group-walks-for-a-great-cause","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/small-group-walks-for-a-great-cause\/","title":{"rendered":"Small group walks for a great cause"},"content":{"rendered":"[ratings]\n<p>It was chilly Saturday morning when a small group of people set out for a walk to support the local branch of Ostomy Canada Society.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong> <broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Carol Gibson, president of Ostomy Muskoka, organized a walk to raise funds and awareness on ostomy. She says ostomy is not a familiar word to many. It&#8217;s a surgery to create an opening from the inside of the body, often the bladder or bowel, to the outside. It is often a subject people are not comfortable talking about but needs to be.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s theme for the walk was Many Stories, One Voice. Five people came out to support the event, which started at the Canada Summit Centre. They took a hike up to Lions&#8217; Lookout and then headed downtown.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because of the theme, we wanted to walk around town and look at the stories behind some of the (Group of Seven) murals and tie that in.
