{"id":48272,"date":"2018-05-09T14:30:51","date_gmt":"2018-05-09T18:30:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=48272"},"modified":"2018-05-09T14:30:51","modified_gmt":"2018-05-09T18:30:51","slug":"town-to-unveil-roy-macgregor-sports-memorabilia-display-on-may-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/town-to-unveil-roy-macgregor-sports-memorabilia-display-on-may-17\/","title":{"rendered":"Town to unveil Roy MacGregor sports memorabilia display on May 17"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Town of Huntsville welcomes everyone to two great events taking place in the afternoon of Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Canada Summit Centre, 20 Park Drive, Huntsville.<\/p>\n<p>Starting at 3 p.m., join Mayor Aitchison and Sports Memorabilia Chair Councillor Jonathan Wiebe as they formally unveil the \u201cRoy MacGregor\u201d sports memorabilia display, located in the Upper Warm Viewing Area of the Don Lough arena.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u201cEllen and I are really excited,\u201d said Roy, \u201cmostly to be able to get all this stuff out from under foot at home, and to have it displayed in my home town, where, for whatever reason, my career got off to its start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roy MacGregor has been an award-winning career journalist and author since 1972. The Washington Post once declared Roy MacGregor &#8220;the closest thing there is to a poet laureate of Canadian hockey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoy MacGregor Memorabilia\u201d will be on permanent display in the Canada Summit Centre.<\/p>\n<p>And, also with professional laurels and too many creative awards to list, The Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour is also having an exhibit opening on Thursday, May 17. Right after the Roy MacGregor opening\u2014and just around the corner\u2014starting at 4 p.m., the Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour will be hosting a reception for their 40th anniversary exhibit \u201cA Creative Journey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour is Canada\u2019s longest-running studio tour. Some original members are expected to be present. Works on display in \u201cA Creative Journey\u201d range from the impressive, to the even more impressive. Many works are on offer to discerning collectors with prices ranging from $48 to $15,000. \u201cThere is really something for everyone, and if not to purchase, to just enjoy seeing,\u201d said exhibit curator Catherine O\u2019Mara. \u201cThis journey has been a long and creative one. We are ready to celebrate!\u201d Please direct sales enquiries for this exhibit to Catherine O\u2019Mara 705-635-2093, catherine_omara@yahoo.ca.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Creative Journey\u201d Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour Members Exhibit and Sale will be on display until August 14, 2018. A percentage of all art sales are held in reserve for the future acquisition of public art in Huntsville.<\/p>\n<p>The Canada Summit Centre, located at 20 Park Drive, is fully accessible.
