{"id":46002,"date":"2018-03-14T00:02:07","date_gmt":"2018-03-14T04:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=46002"},"modified":"2018-03-15T20:54:07","modified_gmt":"2018-03-16T00:54:07","slug":"mpp-miller-fords-pc-leadership-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/mpp-miller-fords-pc-leadership-win\/","title":{"rendered":"MPP Miller on Ford&#8217;s PC leadership win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller says Doug Ford wasn\u2019t his choice, but he\u2019s over it and ready to get behind Ford to take on Kathleen Wynne\u2019s Liberals.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt was a ranked ballot and my first vote was for Caroline Mulroney and my second vote was for Christine Elliott and I stopped there,\u201d said Miller of last Saturday\u2019s leadership convention which saw party faithful elect Doug Ford as party leader heading into a June provincial election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s been a guy who\u2019s certainly been in business and been a fiscal Conservative but also a person who\u2019s ready to stand up for the common person, the little guy,\u201d said Miller, who also described Ford as a polarizing figure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, I probably will lose some moderate supporters. I guess I\u2019ve got to hope that I pick up those that are big supporters of Doug and he\u2019s got lots of supporters. So I have to hope that balances itself out,\u201d said Miller, adding that his main focus will be working hard for this riding.<\/p>\n<p>He said he\u2019s also pleased that both Elliott and Mulroney are planning to stick around. He\u2019s hoping they\u2019ll have \u201csignificant roles to play and it\u2019d be a good moderating voice in caucus as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Conservatives have a lot of work to do leading up to June\u2019s election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m getting behind Doug Ford, supporting him and certainly I think it\u2019s going to be a very clear choice for the voters on June 7<sup>th<\/sup>,\u201d said Miller, adding that there seems to be a strong desire for change in Ontario, particularly after 15 years of Liberal governments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Don\u2019t miss out on Doppler!
