Huntsville High School (HHS) Alpine skier Noah Jason represented the Hoyas in Giant Slalom as the top Individual Male at the OFSAA provincial championships on February 26 and 27 <\/sup>at Blue Mountain in Collingwood.<\/p>\n

OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) Alpine consists of two styles of racing \u2014 Slalom and Giant Slalom \u2014 and every skier who makes it to the provincial competition must ski in both styles. Most of the high school invitational races this season were Giant Slalom. Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area offered HHS racers the opportunity for Slalom, but that was thwarted by poor weather.<\/p>\n

\u201cNoah had the opportunity to practice Slalom at Hidden Valley but he never had competed in the style of race,\u201d said HHS Alpine coach Jennifer Creasor. \u201cNoah raced Slalom for the first time on Monday [February 26]. He finished third after the first race, had a beautiful second run but there was a problem with the timer and he was asked to do a re-run. Unfortunately, he fell on his re-run and was out of medal contention.”<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, February 27, Noah competed in the Boys Giant Slalom and placed second with a combined time of 79.44 seconds, which earned him a silver medal and a spot on the podium.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe showed great character in overcoming the frustrations of Monday’s Slalom race to end up second in the Giant Slalom race the next day,\u201d said Creasor.<\/p>\n
