{"id":45392,"date":"2018-03-02T06:06:20","date_gmt":"2018-03-02T11:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=45392"},"modified":"2018-03-01T12:10:27","modified_gmt":"2018-03-01T17:10:27","slug":"local-business-mbrp-expanding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/local-business-mbrp-expanding\/","title":{"rendered":"Local business, MBRP, is expanding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local manufacturer of high performance exhaust systems and parts distributor MBRP is expanding.<\/p>\n<p>Planning Consultant John Gallagher was before Huntsville\u2019s Planning Committee on February 14 seeking approval for zoning exceptions to allow additional uses on MBRP\u2019s property at 335 Old Ferguson Road.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher said Martin and Ginger Barkey were \u201cputting in their application to expand their business in Huntsville with a new 22,000 square foot manufacturing facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Additional uses on the lands will include light metal fabricating and aftermarket sales and service of motor vehicle and recreational vehicle products.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher said the application confirms with the Provincial Policy Statement, the District Official Plan as well as Huntsville\u2019s Official Plan. \u201cIn that regard the employment aspect is a major consideration to be given at a time when there\u2019s contemplation of other businesses closing down. Martin and Ginger have invested a significant amount of time, energy and money in keeping the factories open in this area and employing local people in this area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Bob Stone said he loved the economic implications of the expansion and wished the Barkeys well. He also asked about the impact the expansion would have on the visual impact from the highway and asked how much of a buffer there is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty much tucked in behind the existing garage and two buildings,\u201d he said. \u201cI did notice yesterday when I was driving by that it is hard to see it from the northbound\u2026 so it\u2019s well set back from the highway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Staff recommended that the application be approved and committee and council agreed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Don\u2019t miss out on Doppler!
