When Frank Claro had a well drilled at his new cottage property on Bay Lake Road last year, he likely didn’t expect to get that money back. But as the winner of F.C. Hammond Well Drilling’s annual well draw,<\/a><\/span> he did just that \u2014 it’s the ninth year that company owners Norm and Jeff Yearley have given one of their customers back the cost of their well.<\/p>\n

<\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n

Claro decided to share the good will with a local charity, but not being familiar with the area yet he looked to the team at F.C. Hammond Well Drilling for advice. They suggested Hospice Huntsville. “(I wanted it to go to) someone who deserves it,” said Claro.<\/p>\n

Today, Claro accepted a cheque for $9,800 from the company, $1,800 of which he’ll be donating to the local organization which runs the Algonquin Grace residential hospice and provides grief support programs, all free of charge.<\/p>\n

Melissa Polischuk, Fund Development & Public Relations Coordinator at Hospice Huntsville, was thrilled with the news.<\/p>\n

“Support from our community members and cottagers is critical to our operating costs every year,” said Polischuk, adding that the organization has to raise 50 per cent of its operating budget each year, or about $534,000. “Every donation helps and we are so happy to have this one from Frank.”<\/p>\n

Claro, who currently lives in Woodbridge, plans to use the property as a cottage for now, but looks forward to the day in a few years when he can call it his permanent home.<\/p>\n
