This project included the replacement of fifty 400-watt metal halide light fixtures with fifty, 54-watt LED, and replacement of all fluorescent fixtures with LED.<\/p>\n<p>It is anticipated that the project will result in a 67 per cent decrease in annual consumption, saving 89,107 kWh per year. As well as saving energy, this project will enhance user experience with a higher quality of light at the arena.<\/p>\n<p>The total cost of the LED lighting project is $60,000, with 100 per cent of the funding coming from the federal Gas Tax Fund.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong>About the federal Gas Tax Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of the New Building Canada Plan, the renewed federal Gas Tax Fund (GTF) provides predictable, long-term, stable funding for Canadian municipalities to help them build and revitalize their local public infrastructure while creating jobs and long-term prosperity. Each year, the federal GTF assists municipalities by providing funding for local infrastructure projects. From coast to coast to coast, the federal GTF is making a difference in all communities across Canada. Every year, municipalities benefit from the financial support and flexibility of the federal GTF. To date, $19 billion has been invested in municipalities through the federal Gas Tax Fund and more than $2 billion will continue to flow each year.<\/p>\n<p>In Ontario, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) delivers the Fund to 443 municipal governments on a per capita basis. In 2016, AMO administered $628 million from the Fund to invest in local infrastructure.
