{"id":40729,"date":"2017-11-28T09:28:33","date_gmt":"2017-11-28T14:28:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=40729"},"modified":"2017-11-28T09:35:42","modified_gmt":"2017-11-28T14:35:42","slug":"mpp-norm-miller-urges-everyone-shop-local-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/mpp-norm-miller-urges-everyone-shop-local-christmas\/","title":{"rendered":"MPP Norm Miller urges everyone to shop local this Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To help businesses challenged by online competition and government policies Norm Miller, MPP for Parry Sound \u2013 Muskoka, today launched a Shop Local campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShopping local not only supports our local businesses but their employees and our whole community,\u201d said Miller today in a statement in the Legislature.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI did a business survey this summer and found that many businesses in Parry Sound \u2013 Muskoka are struggling to compete against online shopping while burdened with increasing hydro costs and other government policies,\u201d said Miller.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will continue to push the government to make it easier to run a business in Ontario but in the meantime I hope the people of Parry Sound \u2013 Muskoka will come together to support our local businesses and local jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust this past weekend PC Leader Patrick Brown announced policies to help small business. Policies like a 28.5% tax cut for small business owners and competitive and stable electricity prices,\u201d said Miller. \u201cUnfortunately we will have to wait until after the election in June to introduce such measures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Miller will post a series of seasonal, shop local messages on Facebook and hopes residents will share the images to remind their friends and family about the importance of supporting local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur local businesses do a lot to support our communities in Parry Sound \u2013 Muskoka, so let\u2019s do what we can to support these business and their employees,\u201d said Miller. \u201cGive a gift to your community this Christmas \u2013 shop local, buy local.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Don\u2019t miss out on Doppler!
