On Sunday, December 10, 2017, with support from the Government of Canada through the Canadian Heritage\u2019s Canada 150 Skating Fund, the Huntsville Skating Club wants the community to come be a part of the nationwide skating party at their Huntsville event.<\/p>\n<p>This local skating party will start with a public skating event in the Jack Bionda Arena (in the Canada Summit Centre) at 9:30 a.m. Community members can skate for free and try out activities and circuits that are used in the CanSkate learn to skate program.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p> The Club\u2019s coaches and programs assistants will be there to guide skaters on the ice. Skaters of all levels are welcome in hockey and figure skates. Parents and community members can join children on the ice or watch from the sidelines. Helmets are required for children 12 and under.<\/p>\n<p>Following the community skating event, skating fans will be able to continue the celebration with cake and hot chocolate while they watch demonstrations by the Huntsville Skating Club\u2019s STARSkaters at 10:30 a.m. Come see skills, jumps and spins by Club skaters.<\/p>\n<p>We hope you will join us and enjoy a morning of skating while we all celebrate the 150th birthday of our country.<\/p>\n<p>The Huntsville Skating Club is a Skate Canada accredited club and teaches CanSkate, STARSkate, CanPower, and Teen and Adult skating programs with professional Skate Canada certified coaches. CanSkate is Skate Canada\u2019s flagship learn-to-skate program for beginners of any age that teaches fundamental movements and basic skills for all skating-based sports including figure skating, hockey, ringette and speed skating. Skaters that complete CanSkate move up to STARSkate which offers opportunities to develop figure skating skills in four different areas: Skills, Test, Achievement and Recognition. Registration is open for the January CanSkate and CanPower sessions.
