{"id":35829,"date":"2017-08-10T10:08:56","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T14:08:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=35829"},"modified":"2017-08-10T10:08:56","modified_gmt":"2017-08-10T14:08:56","slug":"chamber-lease-town-hall-extended-seeking-private-partnership-highway-60-location","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/chamber-lease-town-hall-extended-seeking-private-partnership-highway-60-location\/","title":{"rendered":"Chamber&#8217;s lease at Town Hall extended, still seeking private partnership for Highway 60 location"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce (HLOBCC) will make its home at Town Hall for another year, despite a desire for a more visible location.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The Chamber began leasing office space from the Town after the lease at its former 8 West Street North location ended and its plans for space at the Huntsville Train Station were thwarted by mould issues in the building. It now occupies the former Algonquin Theatre box office adjacent to Club 55 &#8211; a 325 square foot space &#8211; and uses a small area next to the theatre&#8217;s front doors for tourism information.<\/p>\n<p>The new lease runs from June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018 at a rate of $300 per month, the same rate as the prior agreement.<\/p>\n<p>A report presented to Huntsville&#8217;s General Committee on July 26 noted that &#8220;municipal uses have been identified for this space after the end of the lease extension (i.e. municipal election storage and meeting space) and that an extension beyond this agreement may be difficult and unlikely.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Haywood, HLOBCC&#8217;s Executive Director said that the organization will be applying for grants this fall and it continues to look for private partners for new space along Highway 60.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are still very keen on pursuing something that has better visibility, exposure and access,&#8221; said Haywood. &#8220;It has been very positive being at Town Hall. I think it\u2019s great for customer service on Main Street, and I think we would always want to provide that service there as well&#8230;  We are eagerly waiting to see if there are a couple of Public-Private Partnerships that may emerge along Highway 60 because it\u2019s certainly not something we can do alone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Don\u2019t miss out on Doppler!
